The International Aid of the Luxembourg Red Cross implements many humanitarian and development projects in particularly complicated contexts in Sub-Saharan Africa and in particular in the least developed countries. The countries of sub-Saharan Africa are bearing the brunt of the effects of climate change such as rainfall deficits, episodes of severe drought, but also torrential rains and devastating floods with dramatic consequences on the means of subsistence of populations. In this context, our objective is to help the most vulnerable populations to develop adaptation, mitigation and resilience capacities against the consequences of climate change. At the same time, we aim to reduce the environmental impact of our operations. The solutions presented, thanks to a photo exhibition, concern Green Habitat in Africa, Water and Sanitation, the Fight against Deforestation and Risk Reduction and Disaster Preparedness. In particular, the replication of a full-size “Sahel Shelter”, which hosts the photo exhibition, will make it possible to visualize an environmentally friendly response (local materials: circular economy, upcycling, etc.) to the housing needs of emergency in the Sahel, impacted by climate change.
