Caritas Luxembourg

Caritas Luxembourg is present in Bangladesh to support small farmers who have to cope with an environment highly affected by climate change. Three projects have been set up in two regions of the country. In collaboration with different stakeholders, ecological solutions, such as the cultivation of drought-tolerant cereals or the preservation of quality seeds, are implemented in order to mitigate the effects of climate change on those most affected. Come and discover our projects through the testimonies of climate change fighters. 

The transition hub in Luxembourg

CELL is the citizen platform that brings together, coordinates and supports initiatives for an ecological and civic transition in Luxembourg. Carrier of many local and regional initiatives, engaged in social, ecological and / or economic actions, CELL is also the carrier of the Transition movement in Luxembourg. Do you want to join a transition group, to suggest something to move your locality, to discover ecological and civic transition projects? Visit our stand!

Discover the “Léieren am Gaart” project :  a network of educational Gardens which includes:

  • Development of a charter of good practices;

EUROSOLAR

Since 2002, Eurosolar Lëtzebuerg has been promoting renewable energies, its main objective being the complete replacement of fossil and nuclear energies by renewable energies. By visiting our stand, you will learn more about our various projects such as soil mobilization, in particular areas that have already been built, management of decentralized networks and storage capacities in various dimensions, including batteries, green hydrogen from renewable energies, etc … Finally, you will discover our “Luxembourg integration guide for photovoltaic solar panels”, known as archipv.lu, which will give you ideas for combining photovoltaics and architecture.

Planting mangroves for CO2 absorption

Working closely with local communities in the coastal region of Bangladesh, FRIENDSHIP is reforesting mangroves in the Bay of Bengal, on the edge of the UNESCO World Heritage Sundarbans. Through this tree plantation program, FRIENDSHIP fosters biodiversity and addresses poverty by strengthening the livelihoods of local communities. Our stand will make understand, on the one hand, how climate change generates very concrete local impacts on the poor populations who are least responsible for it and, on the other hand, that it is not a fatality because very effective natural and local solutions exist, with multiple benefits, both for those who make them possible here and for those who benefit from them there.

The Klima-Bündnis Lëtzebuerg network currently brings together 40 Luxembourg municipalities. It actively supports its members in achieving their objectives in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and cooperation with the indigenous peoples of the South. To this end, Klima-Bündnis Lëtzebuerg offers concrete projects, campaigns, awareness-raising actions and exchange platforms for municipal stakeholders. This stand offers information on the various activities of the municipal network as well as interactive modules for the general public.

Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Initiative

Come and discover the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Initiative (LSFI). This not-for-profit association tdesigns and implements the Sustainable Finance Strategy for the Luxembourg financial centre. Our objective is to raise awareness, promote and help develop sustainable finance initiatives in Luxembourg.  Test how much you know about sustainable finance and how much you are already doing about this matter by taking part in the “LSFI Sustainable Finance Quiz”.

International Climate Fund

PADEM is a Luxembourg NGO created in 2002, which meets the basic needs of children, women and people with disabilities in developing countries.

Since 2018, PADEM has carried out projects financially supported by the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development, within the framework of the International Climate Fund. Our goal: to mitigate climate change and enable vulnerable populations to adapt to climate change and its consequences.

Is your wardrobe packed, but you can’t find anything to wear in the morning? And have you ever wondered where your clothes come from and by whom and how they were made? Rethink your Clothes is an awareness campaign that addresses the environmental and social issues of the textile and clothing industry, led by the NGOS Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg and Caritas Luxembourg. Our goal is to inspire people to consume less and better, in particular by sustaining second-hand, Fairtrade textiles, upcycling and the exchange of clothes, in order to counter the trend of Fast Fashion. Fast fashion is so harmful to our planet and for the people who often produce it in unworthy working conditions. If you want to learn more about more responsible and sustainable consumption habits and bring our message to your loved ones, your students, your employees and your clients, come and talk to us on our stand. In addition to inspiration, you will also find a fun contest here.

Aspiring to align economic, environmental, and social considerations to sustain human life on earth and recognized by the Luxembourg Ministry of Higher Education & Research, Sacred Heart University Luxembourg provides a variety of academic programs. Comme and discover our programme « Sustainability in Action” which includes:

  • a Mini MBA (Master in Benefit Administration)
  • a Sustainability & Social Impact Certificate
  • as well as dedicated courses such as Circular Economy, Sustainable Finance, Social Entrepreneurship & Impact Economics delivered by local and international academic experts and practitioners.

Vegan Society Luxembourg

The Vegan Society Luxembourg is advocating the vegan lifestyle and helps people in Luxembourg, who make the conscious decision to cut out animal products from their diet and their life, and gives them a community in which they can exchange ideas. Among the main reasons for choosing to become vegan are: vegan for the animals, for the people, for health and for the environment. 

Come and visit our stall to discover the link between meat production and its consequences on our planet such as global warming, pollution, deforestation, land degradation, water scarcity and species extinction.

Did you do something for the climate today? Share your story at COP26 in Glasgow with CreatiVelo.

“Carrying change across the country with a smile” is the idea behind these specially designed 2 wheels, which feature a screen, sound system, internet connection and solar panel. Right after the KlimaExpo, we will drive the three CreatiVelos to Glasgow via Cologne, Brussels, Paris and London. Along the way, we’ll stop to engage in conversation with storytelling workshops. We will collect the wishes and visions of the citizens and make them travel from place to place. In the end, the films and reports will be shown during numerous physical and digital events. You can follow them live on http://earthbeat.youth4planet.com until November 12th.

During the last years, perishing forests can be observed throughout the country. Students in forestry and environment of the Lycée technique prepared several posters about the impact of the climate on the trees and the forests.
Besides, you can find information about the new site of the LTA in Gilsdorf and the different training opportunities offered.

Send your story to the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow with CreatiVelo. “Carrying changes across the country with a smile” is the idea behind the specially designed transport wheels, which have a screen, a sound system, an internet connection and a solar roof. Immediately after the KlimaExpo, young Luxembourgers will drive the three CreatiVelos to the climate summit in Glasgo via Cologne, Brussels, Paris and London 2000km. On their way they give storytelling workshops, collect the wishes and visions of the citizens and carry them on from place to place. At the end, the films and reports will be shown in numerous events and online broadcasts. All Luxembourgers can follow them live on the website http://earthbeat.youth4planet.com until November 12th. We invite you to follow the bike tour, to enter yourselves in the video guest book at the KlimaExpo21 or to sponsor the youth trip to Glasgow for miles.
